The White Goods Loan Scheme
Provides no interest loans to individuals and families to assist with the purchase of essential white goods. Facing a Ballarat winter with four children and no washing machine, or a summer without a fridge sounds almost impossible. For those experiencing financial difficulty these items are often unobtainable. UnitingCare Ballarat is able to offer no interest loans to individuals and families to assist with the purchase of essential white goods. A client who used the White Goods Loan Scheme had this to say:
"I have four young kids and my washing machine broke down 6 weeks ago. I have to go to the laundromat and the nearest is 4kms from home. It's been a nightmare carting washing in and out of the car, and trying to fit it between school and kinder pick-ups - not to mention the cost for the washing and dryer. It's such a relief to have a washing machine in my laundry again."
Family Ties
Family Ties is Ballarat’s Family Sponsorship Program. Families experiencing difficulties are matched with sponsors. Current sponsors include community, business and school groups, families, groups of friends and individuals.
